TOPIC:  RISING COST OF HEALTH CARE

LESSON: 

1  TASK:

Go to the following pages from the website that accompanies the video, Sick Around the World and read the summaries of the four basic global models of health care reform, the interview with T.R. Reid and scan the statistics that are available.  After reading the material students working in groups will select the health care system that is best suited for the U.S.   Next the group will compose a main idea statement and bullet at least four elements that support the main idea and that demonstrate why the selected health care system is best suited for the United States.  The group's findings will be presented in a brief slide show.  Note that the main idea statement should be on a separate slide and the bullets on another. Additionally be sure that the various members of the groups are identified in the title slide.   Be prepared to defend your choice and be able to explain why the other models would not work.  The responses will be presented to the entire class.
